freedom isn't free

Happy 4th of July to you...a few days early, but I say everyday truly is Independence Day in the United States - because we should be thankful for our freedom every single day. I don't believe that we treasure our freedom enough, although I think some days it becomes more apparent to us that we ought to. The girls and I went with some ladies with the American Legion Auxillary to the Conroe VA Clinic to deliver some cookie trays to the veterans that were there. It was nice to be able to tell them "thank you" for their service to our country. I was glad the girls were able to go and be able to visit with them - they were shy and sat while I talked (Megan would tell you that it was because she couldn't get a word in because I talked too much - I couldn't help it - I met a fellow Tiger fan - who used to go to the Blind River Bar!). I think we made a difference in their day, especially Gary and Lonnie - I really enjoyed talking to them - they were both Vietnam Vets, Gary was in the Navy - a SeaBee, I'm not sure what Lonnie was in, we were too busy talking about Louisiana stuff! Any fellow David parents reading that donated cookie dough back to the school, this is where some of that cookie dough went - I used the remaining cookie dough to bake cookies for these veterans for the cookie trays for the American Legion Auxillary- they ask me for cookie donations from time to time, and I'm always happy to help - whatever I can do. I am so thankful for their service and sacrifices for our country. Because freedom isn't free - it takes the sacrifices of the men and women who have served and currently serve in our armed forces and may God bless all of them.
