back from camp

Megan made it back from camp just fine. She had a blast and can't wait to go back next year. She's talked nonstop about all the exciting things she learned and got to do. When you see her, be sure to ask for details...

buggy's back!

Just a quick note to let you know that my bug is back home! She's been in Louisiana since we went to be beach - she split her time between Kriste and Randy's and my mom and dad's. She had a total blast - she loves spending time with her cousins, and Kiki and Uncle Randy are the best. MaMa and PaPa spoil her rotten (she and PaPa Charlie had many cool adventures this trip), and she had a night at Camp Daisy's as well. Life is definitely good in Louisiana, just like the commercials tell ya. But, there were two parents at home missing them some Cassidy. So MaMa Sandra brought her home today, and Cassidy has assured me all day and night long that she missed me and her dad very much and that while she had a great time, there's no place like home. Which, knowing how much fun she had (because, believe me, she called me at least 3 times a day to tell me about it), that's good to hear!

and away she goes...now fill her up!

"Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit." Romans 15:13

Megan left this morning for Camp Good News. She was so excited. Her friends Zoe, Meagan, and Trinity from school and a new friend Allyson she met thru Zoe are in her cabin and boy were they ready to go. The bus was buzzing. Lots of other friends from school are going, plus several boys on the bus to annoy, so pray for the bus drivers, camp counselors, etc.! Here are a few pics I took. I held it together nicely, until she flashed me the "i love you" sign thru the window. Then I lost it a little, but recovered well before she saw me. She'll be back Friday at 11:30. I'm gonna miss her. Until then, the dogs and I are hitting the couch.

Megan is funny...or maybe I'm crazy

Megan and I spent the majority of our day today running errands. Our last stop was the post office. She was playing with a pair of goggles that was in the Yukon so I dared her to wear them into the post office. She didn't really want to, so I told her I'd give her a dollar. She wanted more money than, but I said no. Boredom won out I guess, so she caved and wore the black swim goggles into the post office. There was quite a line. There were strange looks and some whispering. I thought it was hysterical. When it was our turn, I finally asked the guy waiting on us if he was curious why she was wearing goggles, and so he did ask...then he gave us both Jr. Post Master stickers. I think this may become the new random thing to do - just wear swim goggles into the store for no reason. Just because.

family beach vacation

We got to go spend some time with Jon's folks at the Grand Hotel in Point Clear, AL - Mr. Buddy is the President of the MS ABC chapter and they were having their convention there this year. This place was the bomb - so nice, so relaxing, just perfect for a family vacay. They had a private beach, an awesome pool (the "everybody pool" and an adult pool - which we never saw!) with a cool slide which the kids lived on and a cool water fall and a zero entry place for the wee ones, jet skis, kayaks and those little sailboats that aren't exactly sail boats - hobies. Jon took both of the girls on the kayaks - they loved it. He also took Megan out on a jet ski - she's hooked! And of course, we had a great time visiting with family - Kriste, Randy and their darlings were there, Bailey rode up there with us and Alicia came up later in the week, Sara and her friend DJ...what a wonderful week. There was a dinner out on the beach one night - the theme for the whole convention was a Jimmy Buffet theme - so they had the zoo there with 2 parrots. The kids were completely fascinated with those birds. Especially Cassidy and Jake. It was fun to go to dinner with no shoes! And how about that sunset? Anyway - thanks again for having us, PaPa Buddy - we had the BEST time!!!!

end of school

what a crazy week it's been. I think the last week of school has to be the busiest one all year long. Here's a few pictures that I was able to take when I wasn't pulling my hair out from all the crazy going on! Megan and some of her friends got to have lunch with Mrs. Tworek, her social studies and science teacher. They loved that. She's a super sweetie - I love her. I love all 3 of her teachers - Mrs. Bentley is her math teachers - she's in the picture with Megan and the AR trophy, and Mrs. Faria is her language arts teacher. Megan got several awards - straight As for the whole year, a trophy for getting 200 AR points for reading (they said more kids got trophies this year than ever before, so that's good - more reading, less tv? I doubt it!), and this one is pretty impressive - the President's Education Awards Program for Outstanding Academic Excellence - she got that one for maintaining a 93% or higher in all of her classes all year. She's a rock star. Cassidy made the AB honor roll and got the "Remarkable Reader" award from her teacher Mrs. Gist for being an outstanding reader at home and at school. I still can't believe Megan's not going to be at elementary school anymore...not a David Dolphin anymore. I had a big cry-fest with her teachers that morning, and got it all out of my system so I didn't cry that afternoon when the 4th graders did their run thru the hallways and all the parents and kids clapped and cheered for them (we call it the "clapout"). Her teachers have been the best, and have really prepared her for going on to 5th grade, and I know she's going to be a rock star there as well. Cassidy is ready for 3rd grade - I just hope 3rd grade is ready for her! As we were walking out of school, Mr. Allen was there, so I was able to get that last "the girls and Mr. Allen pic" I always like to get...that made me sad - it's Megan's last one. Time passes WAY too fast. I mean, I can remember her first day of kindergarden - has it been 5 years ago, really? UGH! Anyway, this post is very scattered, very much the way I have been the past few weeks. Here's to hoping my summer will be a little less crazy, a little more peaceful...

fortune cookie

I got this fortune in my fortune cookie last night, and Jon thinks I should read it every morning...I don't know why...
"In silence man can most readily preserve his integrity."
Whatever. Silence is BORING!
