We had Miss Bug's party at this fun place called All About Crafts - the kids got to paint their own pottery - BIG fun - hard to believe that my sweet little baby girl is 9 years old. Her last year in the single digits. It's killing me... We had a super small party, and she loved being surrounded by her bffs... now I just have to go pick up those painted pieces and get them to everybody...

mothers
Today is Mother's Day - I had a wonderful morning - got to sleep late, coffee and my favorite blueberry donuts, poems and coupons and cards from my girls that I love so much, and exclamations that I am the best mom in the world. I'm glad they think so...there are times when I'm sure they don't think that, and that's okay - that's going to continue and I know we'll make it through. Actually, I have the best mom in the world, so how can I be the best mom - that position is taken...and she will tell you that she has the best mom...and on it goes... ;) We are blessed in our relationships with our mothers - me, my sister, my sisters-in-law - we have these incredible, kind, loving women in our lives that are there to cheer us on when we are doing well, and help us pick up the pieces when things aren't. So, Happy Mothers Day to all of my family and friends that are mothers...while it's the toughest job in the world, I wouldn't trade it for anything.

new phone for me
well, did you know that I have a super power? besides being a supermom....haha. I have the power to completely destroy a cellphone in less than a month from it being my very own new cellphone. it's a gift. my cute little pink slider just made it past the two year mark here recently when i finally dropped it so hard across the floor that it died for real and wouldn't turn back on. rats. it was a super cute phone - the only reason i got it was because it was pink...am I that much of a girly girl? so, off to the AT&T store jon and i went...i didn't want an iphone because i thought that was just too much - i don't need all that, and jon surely didn't want me getting an iphone - goodness knows he thinks i spend too much time on the computer as it is and he didn't think i needed more access to email and facebook...but i wanted something similar (read cheaper) - i looked at a few samsung phones that i thought i might like. so we talked to the rep about durability...and here's where he hooked jon....the cases that samsung make for their phones are obviously of shoddy quality (this is not what he said, this is my opinion from what he said) and don't protect their phones like the iphones do and "I SAW WHAT SHE DID TO THE LAST ONE" really, nick? what does that mean? are you saying that i abused my cellphone? that perhaps i'm a little rough? now, this is all the truth, but still...so jon's says - let's go look at the iphones...but i don't want an iphone....they are too expensive, i don't need all that, blah, blah, blah.....mr. cellphone rep tells jon about the fabulous cellphone case that will protect my cellphone from me. really? i will believe this in a few months when my iphone doesn't have a big ol' crack across the face of it. my case is black and hot pink, but i didn't have many options - the OtterBox had like 3 colors. boring. but i fear this is my fate, because this is the only case that will truly protect it from me. they need to branch out on designs. anyone got a bedazzler i can borrow, maybe dress it up myself? and I have to admit, as much as i didn't want that phone, i have drank the iphone koolaid and i love it - this phone rocks. i've been wanting an mp3 player, and now i have an ipod on my phone...i can download books and movies and tv shows for trips to BR...jon's gonna hate that - i usually have my nose parked in a book for all the daylight hours, now i'll have earphones and this crazy phone watching or listening to who knows what. it's driving the girls crazy because i won't let them touch it...their little fingers are just itching to get on there and download some apps....nope. my iphone. i know, i'm being selfish and greedy...but can't i have one little thing for me? i play my music for them. they can listen with their ears. haha. and of course, it wouldn't be a toy of mine if it didn't have a name...ASkars.....which is what we call Alexander Skarsgard, who plays my vampire boyfriend Eric.....

No Shoes! Dirty Feet...
So, April 8th was TOMS Shoes One Day Without Shoes...it's where you shuck your shoes in support of what they do - giving shoes to kids that are in need of shoes - www.toms.com - it was chilly on Thursday - and let's face it - I live in The Woodlands, not a third world country, so my experience isn't the experience of a child somewhere in the world that needs a pair of shoes, but I do love my TOMS and I support them every chance my husband lets me ;) - 4 pairs and counting! I loved that day though - I felt like a total rebel, walking around without shoes on, knowing I should have them on, waiting for someone to ask...and some people did. So I got to share what I was doing. And with a lot of people who didn't know anything about TOMS and what they do... And, what they do - if you don't know - is very simple - you buy a pair of shoes and they donate a pair of shoes to a child somewhere in the world in need. I love it. I was very happy to wash my dirty feet at the end of the day though...I don't like going without shoes - I like slippers and socks and shoes.

Easter Bunny missive
Okay, so last week, Cassidy wrote a letter to the Easter Bunny, to let him know the two things she REALLY wanted for Easter (two things that are btw REALLY impossible to get). Usually I mail such letters, she wanted to put her letter in the mail, so her dad walked her down to the mailbox and she mailed her own letter. She likes to correspond with someone, either via email, text, letter, bulletin board on the computer...so, after the Easter egg party at Cherie's where Rudy was making his world famous Rudy "fat burgers" that we could not eat because it was Good Friday...Jon was very sad - he loves Rudy burgers...so we went to Eden Cafe and had some delicious fried fish...when we got home, there was a letter to Cassidy from the Easter Bunny stuck in the door. Really. We were all very surprised. So, here's the letter from the Easter Bunny. We didn't know he lived in Montana. Who knew?
Easter Egging
Cherie and Nada had everyone over for some egg hunting Friday night. I'm sad to say that Megan has officially outgrown egg hunting. Sad. Cassidy is still on the prowl. She was a little mad that I stopped her hunting so the little kids could get a little more...because I'm a fun sponge like that. She's a good listener though...she stopped - except the hunt for the elusive golden egg. Sadly she didn't get it. There is always next year... I was glad she got to spend some time with her very good friends, Alyx and Daisy, as did I...as I told everyone when we were visiting, I've been like I lizard hiding from the cold under my rock...maybe now that it's warming up some, I'll come sit on top of it and be social...IF it warms up...time will tell, I guess!
Andy and Maria's wedding
We had a little trip to Baton Rouge last weekend - Ida's son Andy got married! I still find it hard to believe that boy is 26 years old...wasn't it just yesterday I was babysitting him? He's grown into this incredible man, and it's all because of his mama - she has done an amazing job turning that little boy into the man he is today. So, now he has a family of his own. But, you won't see them here (except for his precious little Isabella - I did get pics of her!) - I forgot to get pics of the bride and groom - too focused of my girls and their godmother and me and Ida....oops! haha. Ida looks fabulous, as always...seriously, have we ever seen her look otherwise?! They got married at St. Jean Vianney - which was our old church when we lived in Baton Rouge, so that was fun for us. We had SO much fun at the reception - danced, danced, danced...closed down the reception at midnight.
I was glad to have some time with my friend. Loved it! Congrats Andy and Maria!
