More Ike
We have left home and evacuated to Baton Rouge. The 3 to 5 week timeline on getting power back was not something we really wanted to hang around for. So, for now, we are torturing our poor families here in Louisiana. We were very fortunate with the storm - we had a few trees down from the greenbelt behind our house that took out the fence and playstructure, but no damage to the house. And we are all safe, which is the most important thing. I'll post pictures probably tomorrow.

Ike
Just a quick note before we lose power (and I'm sure we will), we stayed at home, and it's getting really windy. Once everything calms down and we get power back (which I hope will be soon), I'll update. I have some pics I need to upload of Tyler, Jake, Hannah and the girls from their visit here during their evac from BR due to no power from Gustav. Not a good month for the Edens families and hurricanes. Anyway, hope you and yours are safe and sound, and I'll update soon.

back to school
Well, school started today for my little darlings. Megan is in the 4th grade, and I was a little misty this morning, walking the halls with her, as this will be her last year at elementary school. She really didn't even want to hold my hand as we walked to class. But she did give me a hug and kiss at the door, so I was thankful for that. She has 2 awesome teachers - Mrs. Bentley and Mrs. Faria. Cassidy started 2nd grade, and was off and running in her usual "buggy" form. We totally scored on her teachers too - Mrs. Gist and Mrs. McLane. It's going to be a great year. They both had great reports about their first day...although I had written notes to put in their lunch boxes, and in my big hurry this morning, I slipped the wrong note in the wrong box. So they were both a little hacked about that. As Hannah Montana sings....nobody's perfect....
You'll love this - I asked Cassidy what she was going to wear today, and she told me "her smart dress". Is that the cutest or what? And another typical Bug - check out the closeup pic of the girls together - I could NOT get a shot with Cassidy's eyes open....Kriste, thanks for passing on ALL the good genes to my kids!!!! haha

bubbles
Josh is on leave before he deploys again for Iraq at the end of this month. He, Debra and Madi are here visiting...and we get a hurricane. Well, not really a hurricane, but a whole bunch of rain though. So here we are killing some time on our rainy, rainy day with some bubbles in the garage. The girls are loving having a little cousin around to play with, and Madi is loving having a dog in the house. Maks is loving it because Madi is an especially easy target when it comes to crackers and such. I am so glad that Jon and Josh are getting some time to do stuff together. Debra and I are comparing notes on how much our crazy husbands are alike. We are all just loving hanging out.

time with Tyler
When we came back to TX on Monday, we brought our nephew Tyler with us to visit for a few days. We are having a ton of fun - he's enjoying playing outside in the backyard, and hanging out with the girls. We spent the day at the pool yesterday and had a marvelous time. He loved going down the froggy slide (even head first!). We are planning to hit the pools every day, if it doesn't rain. Kriste comes Thursday to get him and they will fly home on Friday. I don't know how Kriste does it with 3 little ones. I'm exhausted!!
Jakers
My nephew Jake cracks me up. Kriste and I took all 5 kids to Target on Sunday (yes, we are crazy). I had one of my 3 lebanese iced teas with me, and when I finished with it, I gave the styrofoam cup to Jake to keep him entertained while we were shopping. Although, I'm not sure why - we spent more time trying to find the lid he kept dropping than we did shopping! He got the top part of the cup torn off and decided to try it on. He is really so darn cute!!!
