No Shoes! Dirty Feet...

So, April 8th was TOMS Shoes One Day Without Shoes...it's where you shuck your shoes in support of what they do - giving shoes to kids that are in need of shoes - www.toms.com - it was chilly on Thursday - and let's face it - I live in The Woodlands, not a third world country, so my experience isn't the experience of a child somewhere in the world that needs a pair of shoes, but I do love my TOMS and I support them every chance my husband lets me ;) - 4 pairs and counting! I loved that day though - I felt like a total rebel, walking around without shoes on, knowing I should have them on, waiting for someone to ask...and some people did. So I got to share what I was doing. And with a lot of people who didn't know anything about TOMS and what they do... And, what they do - if you don't know - is very simple - you buy a pair of shoes and they donate a pair of shoes to a child somewhere in the world in need. I love it. I was very happy to wash my dirty feet at the end of the day though...I don't like going without shoes - I like slippers and socks and shoes.

Easter Bunny missive

Okay, so last week, Cassidy wrote a letter to the Easter Bunny, to let him know the two things she REALLY wanted for Easter (two things that are btw REALLY impossible to get). Usually I mail such letters, she wanted to put her letter in the mail, so her dad walked her down to the mailbox and she mailed her own letter. She likes to correspond with someone, either via email, text, letter, bulletin board on the computer...so, after the Easter egg party at Cherie's where Rudy was making his world famous Rudy "fat burgers" that we could not eat because it was Good Friday...Jon was very sad - he loves Rudy burgers...so we went to Eden Cafe and had some delicious fried fish...when we got home, there was a letter to Cassidy from the Easter Bunny stuck in the door. Really. We were all very surprised. So, here's the letter from the Easter Bunny. We didn't know he lived in Montana. Who knew?

Easter Egging

Cherie and Nada had everyone over for some egg hunting Friday night. I'm sad to say that Megan has officially outgrown egg hunting. Sad. Cassidy is still on the prowl. She was a little mad that I stopped her hunting so the little kids could get a little more...because I'm a fun sponge like that. She's a good listener though...she stopped - except the hunt for the elusive golden egg. Sadly she didn't get it. There is always next year... I was glad she got to spend some time with her very good friends, Alyx and Daisy, as did I...as I told everyone when we were visiting, I've been like I lizard hiding from the cold under my rock...maybe now that it's warming up some, I'll come sit on top of it and be social...IF it warms up...time will tell, I guess!

Andy and Maria's wedding

We had a little trip to Baton Rouge last weekend - Ida's son Andy got married! I still find it hard to believe that boy is 26 years old...wasn't it just yesterday I was babysitting him? He's grown into this incredible man, and it's all because of his mama - she has done an amazing job turning that little boy into the man he is today. So, now he has a family of his own. But, you won't see them here (except for his precious little Isabella - I did get pics of her!) - I forgot to get pics of the bride and groom - too focused of my girls and their godmother and me and Ida....oops! haha. Ida looks fabulous, as always...seriously, have we ever seen her look otherwise?! They got married at St. Jean Vianney - which was our old church when we lived in Baton Rouge, so that was fun for us. We had SO much fun at the reception - danced, danced, danced...closed down the reception at midnight. I was glad to have some time with my friend. Loved it! Congrats Andy and Maria!
