more weirdness...
okay, just when I think I have seen it all...I go to Walmart. haha. The girls and I were at Walmart Saturday doing some shopping - the girls were browsing the nail polish. Megan decided she REALLY needed some fake press-on nails. Um, no she doesn't, says I. So, as I am checking out all the different things they have in this section while she and Cassidy are looking at all the different fake nails they have (Megan likes the flowers while Cassidy prefers the boneheads, of course)....you won't believe what they have. Fake press-on toe nails. For real. I really didn't know what to say about that. I guess it would come in handy on those days you don't have time to throw ANOTHER coat of polish over the chipped up polish on your toes....

work of art?
Jon went to BR on Friday, so he went with Megan and I to take her to school. We parked at the shopping center and walked on the trails from there and came across....this. I can't decide if this is incredibly imaginative or the grossest thing I've ever seen...or both. How long have kids been smooshing their gum on this poor tree on their way to and from school? Anyway, I felt the need to share, just because I couldn't decide how I felt about it...

1st day of school
it's finally here - the first day of school - 3rd grade for Cassidy and 5th grade for Megan. I think they look so grownup and ready to conquer the world. Me - I went for coffee, and now have to clean the house. I could use a BIG nap. Know why? Because school has started...and now the craziness begins for me...at 2 schools. Anyone got a cloning machine I can borrow?

meet the teachers...
the girls met their teacher this week. Megan had hers on Thursday night at Collins. She's in 5th grade now. She has 3 teachers. Why I only have pictures of 2 I have no idea other than it was a little chaotic that evening. And people were making noises when I took pictures. Really. Her teachers all seemed so nice, and one of them is a LSU fan. She has a locker too. So she is big time. I think she's going to have a great transition to intermediate school. Cassidy met her teachers last night. She was a happy camper, and I've heard awesome things about her homeroom teacher (this is only her 2nd year at David), so she's off to 3rd grade ready to take on the world. They both have friends in their classes, so they are happy about that. Me, I might just cry on Monday. My kids are growing up way too fast.

craziness
Because there's just not enough insanity in my world, I took my kids with me to my doctor's appointment yesterday. We were there for 2 hours. With one DS. (the other one's battery had died on the way there, when there was not enough time to return home for the charger) Let's just say it was not the most enjoyable 2 hours of my day. Today, while we were running errands, listening to the current soundtrack of our lives, Michael Jackson's greatest hits, thank you Cassidy, PYT (pretty young thing) was playing. I laughed and said - that was us, pretty young things. They informed me I was a POT - a pretty old thing. They thought that was very funny. I'm not so sure. They said that their dad was a HOT - handsome old thing. How did he get the better end of the stick?

Courage House Tanzania
I'm raising money for my sister-in-law Lauren - she's in Tanzania, and they are going to start renovating the house that will become a loving and safe home for "at-risk" kids. It's going to take $15,000 to make this happen. My goal is $5,000 and I'll be collecting donations until August 21st. If you'd like to donate, please let me know. Lauren is really out there changing the world and making a difference. I want to help her, and I have the courage to ask you to help too! So please donate!

Fashion Bug
We went to Sam Moon yesterday and Cassidy found several very fashionable items in her favorite color and put on a fashion show. (She now owns the hat and the scarf...if only she hadn't spent all of her money on that wii game, she'd have the purse as well, I'm sure). You know, she does possibly have a future in either designing or modeling...

the honeymoon is over...
but our girls are back!!! The girls have been on a 2 week grandparent vacay since we went to Jackson for Mr. Buddy's birthday. They spent a week with Jon's parents and a week with mine. They have had a fabulous time with both. They got back yesterday afternoon, with so much stuff, my mother's Patriot was almost dragging the ground! I was thinking, didn't they just leave with a suitcase? Oh yes, they are spoiled rotten now. Jon and I had a wonderful time - it was like the old days when it was just us...it was awesome to have that time to reconnect and think - hey, I remember why I like you! But two weeks are too long to be away from our girls. (don't be fooled though - they weren't home 4 hours before they got into trouble - we were surprised about this because we had gotten such glowing reports of their stellar behavior while they were gone - we think our house may be possessed - that's why they are so bad! haha)
